Socio-Legal Analysis of Conflict Handling in Baubau City

Abstract

Objective: The Indonesian nation is rich in both natural resources and human resources. However, differences in ethnicity, race, religion, and welfare disparities are potential sources of conflict both vertically and horizontally. Handling of social conflict cases in Baubau City which are still on a small scale but need comprehensive anticipation in order to maintain the peace of Baubau City. Method: Empirical Juridical sourced from primary and secondary materials analyzed qualitatively by descriptively describing the results of relevant data and cases studied. Research Results: Disputes between youth groups in Baubau City and community protests carried out by means of demonstrations are two things that often occur in Baubau City and both have the potential to trigger social conflict in society. The vulnerability of the young generation and students in Baubau City to be involved in intergroup conflicts is influenced by various complex factors so that handling them requires a comprehensive and sustainable approach that includes social, economic, educational, and psychological interventions. The challenges of intergroup conflict among youth in Baubau City are very complex and diverse so that they require a comprehensive approach from the Baubau City Government, including implementing various programs and activities that focus on community involvement, education, sports and recreational activities, cultural exchange, and mental health support.
