Abstract

Based on data on land use in the City of Baubau, it varies according to regional characteristics. Rice plants are mainly produced in Bungi District, Sorawolio District, and Lealea District. For corn plants in Lealea District, Sorawolio District, Wolio District, and Kokalukuna Subdistrict, as well as other sub-districts but the numbers are relatively small, even there are sub-districts that do not produce. Uneven distribution of food production data will affect food availability, access to public food, patterns of food consumption, distribution of food, achievement of people's food consumption, and conditions of food insecurity. This study aims to determine the availability of food reserves, distribution, access, diversification and factors that influence the food security of the people of Baubau City. The benefits of this study are the availability of data on food conditions and food consumption patterns of people in the Baubau City area and as one of the references for the Baubau City government for policy making regarding the development of community food security in the Baubau City area. Sampling uses the cluster method, and the selection of respondents is done by purposive random sampling. The instruments of primary data collection used questionnaires and direct interviews with respondents who were the research samples and secondary data to visit agencies and organizations related to food security in Baubau City. The results showed that food diversification in the people of Baubau City was relatively low, the level of energy consumption was predominantly derived from rice and protein dominated by fish protein, relatively normal even though there were still those who were classified as mild deficits. The expenditure portion is dominated by food types, namely food, the factors that influence food security are the income level, education, number of family members, and assets owned. Food stocks are in the adequate category, food distribution and access are in good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the status of food security of the people of Baubau City is in the good category.
